Drink local at A Sip of Michigan
Drink Michigan is turning 1 year old and they’re celebrating with a big birthday bash. The second A Sip of Michigan event is Friday, July 15th at the Rattlesnake Club in Detroit and will feature Michigan wine, beer and spirits along with food pairing stations and live entertainment.
Drink Michigan’s first Sip of Michigan event was a rousing success and I highly recommend getting your tickets early for their birthday bash.
Many of Michigan’s finest breweries, wineries and distilleries will be on hand for you to sip including:
- L. Mawby
- Chateau Chantal
- Valentine Vodka
- Arcadia Ales
- Atwater Block Brewing
- New Holland
- Short’s Brewing
Tickets are $35 and include 35 tasting tickets plus food and entertainment. 1 ticket per tasting or 3 for a full pour. Additional tasting tickets will be available for purchase. You must be 21 years of age to attend this event.
The event is a benefit for Homefront Hugs, a national non-profit based in Ann Arbor that takes care of our troops overseas, the wounded heroes and military families.
But wait, there’s more! Win a pair of tickets!

my new fav is Valentine Vodka.....
I took a tour of the Leelanau Peninsula Wineries last summer...it was amazing. Also doesn't hurt to have a Bell's now and again!
My fave MI brew is Bell's Cherry Stout.
Hands down, it's Huma-Lupa-Licious!! Love Short's Brewery!
Arcadia and Short's...sounds delicious!!! Great chance to try Michigan spirits i've never had before.
Can't go wrong with St. Julian wines!
Ghetto Blaster by Motor City Brewing Works. Best local beer. Best name.
I love the spirits from New Holland Brewery and L. Mawby has some phenomenal sparkling wine. Sounds like a fantastic event!!
Oh wait...not made in MI. So then I'd say Bell's Oberon Ale!
Oberon!!!
I can't wait for the Sip of Michigan Bash! My 21st birthday is this Friday, July 8th and I'll be enjoying a great glass of wine at Sandhill Crane Vineyard in Jackson!
REALLY diggin' on Short's Sustenance Black Beer...mmmmm!
Hard Luck Candy Red Fish Vodka with a touch of club soda-yum
Ghetto Blaster, baby!
Favorite Michigan drink is a toughie. I'd say Kuhnhenn Fourth Dementia, but it's just not something I could drink every day on a desert island, which is kind of my criteria for these things. I'm gonna go with Founders Backwoods Bastard. Rich, sweet, malty, and bourbony, but not too heavy to enjoy while dehydrating and awaiting rescue. Shame they can't put that stuff out year round.
Leelanau Cellars makes a killer Winter White wine, and it's only about $7 a bottle. My fave!
I have to say my fave is New Holland's Golden Cap Saison Ale. It's a great summer beer AND it has a flying monkey on the label!
I love Oberon! =)
For beer it is Kuhnhenn Double Rice IPA and for cocktails it is B.Nektar Wildberry Pyment Mead mixed with Faygo Rock N'Rye and a splash of Valentine vodka. We've dubbed it the "Super Michigan Drink" (we're not very creative).
I have so many favorites, it's hard to pick just one! I definitely LOVE Wolverine Beer (new tap room in Ann Arbor!) and Valentine Vodka is my new found vodka of choice...
